Feb 24, 2022: The Minister of Culture, Toursim, and Civil Aviation has appointed World record holder mountaineer Nirmal Purja as a World Goodwill Ambassador for Nepal’s Tourism.
On Thursday, at a event organized by the tourism ministry, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale announced the appointment of Nirmal and was also honored for his significant contribution in introducing Nepal to the world.
Minister Ale expressed his thoughts that he was very happy and proud to have Purja declared as a goodwill ambassador for Nepal’s Tourism during his tenure. Minister Ale further added he respects all the climbers and hopes that Nepal tourism will bloom once again, which has been crippled by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Speaking on the occasion, mountaineer Nirmal Purja said that he felt his responsibility was enhanced by the honor bestowed on him by the ministry.
He said that he would like to contribute in the coming days to introduce the country to the world.
Nirmal Purja is Nepalese mountaineer who has set a world record by climbing 14 mountains of the world including Mount Everest at an altitude of more than 8,000 meters in a mind-blowing six months and six days.
