Pristine Nepal Treks offers an interesting and unique journey with awesome scenery on Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking, a great combination of scenic walks, and observing cultures around the remote Langtang Himal area.

Tamang ethnic tribe who have settled far and wide of Nepal North Mid-West / Mid East to southern Terai, but heavily populated around Rasuwa district of Langtang and Ganesh Himal area and as well on Kathmandu valley rim. Tamang origin from Mongol descendant migrated to Tibet for a long time adopting similar culture and religion of ancient Bon and Buddhism way of life. Tamang Heritage Trail leads you to the high hills of the Langtang area close to the Tibet border, after an interesting drive to start the walk from Syabrubesi to a Tamang village.

Journey

The trek starts from a Syabrubesi, a seven hours drive from Kathmandu. Further, the walk leads to exploring delightful Tamang villages, rich in immense culture and custom with a simple way of life. Throughout your journey walk into lovely rhododendron and pine tree forested area with a panorama view of snowcapped peaks. After a wonderful time around the high hills of Langtang, our return leads via an alternative route providing you more opportunity to observe the native Tamang Buddhist culture, and driving back to Kathmandu to conclude this interesting and exciting Tamang Heritage Trail.

Tamang Heritage Trail Itinerary

On arrival in Kathmandu received by pristinenepal staff and guide for the short drive to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city, where you will join with other members for Tamang Heritage Trail, our guide or group leader will brief with information regarding trekking – hotels-culture with do’s and don’ts, includes welcome dinner in a nice and typical Nepali restaurant with cultural programs.

Our wonderful journey to Tamang Heritage Trail trekking starts with a morning drive towards high hills of Langtang to Syabrubesi, an exciting drive leading past many farm village and towns to reach warm areas at Trisuli Bazaar. After a short break drive heads towards cooler area at Ramche and Dhunche town at 1,960 m, at the entrance of Langtang National Park Dhunche a major town of Rasuwa district and Langtang region. From here drive leads downhill on the zig-zag winding road to end the journey for the day at Syabrubesi village for a first overnight stop in Langtang area.

The first-day walk leads North West, where the motor road is closed we will avoid the main road as much as possible, taking an old trekking trail to Gatlang, walk leads past several farm villages of Tamang area. The walk leads to slowly climb to large Tamang village at Gatlang for an overnight stop, on arrival warm welcome greeted with Khada (religious silk scarf) and transfer you to local homes for an overnight stay, with time to visit the villages and interact with the locals.

The Morning starts with views of peaks towards the north and of Tibet Mountains, starting day walk with a gradual uphill most of the way through several small farm villages and hamlets and patch of woodlands to reach at Tatopani for an overnight stop. Afternoon visit hot springs as Tatopani means hot water rising from the fresh spring, and visit the local villages and its friendly people.

Morning walk heads near on the route to Tibet border at Nagthali and Thuman towards north walking on a gradual path with uphill most of the day and then short downhill with views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. Walk leads through Nagthali and then finally to an overnight stop at Thuman village, with time in an afternoon to interact and observe local villagers.

After time in this nice Tamang village and views of distant peaks of Ganesh and Langtang Himal, morning starts with a gradual walk on the winding path and then with a climb to a ridge overlooking more views of mountains and surrounding landscapes and entering the rhododendron, pines and oaks forest, and then with a climb with short descend to another nice village at Briddim for overnight stop.

After a fascinating time in Briddim village, return trekking via Lama Hotel on the path to Langtang valley, however our route diverts from the main trekking trail, walking through enchanting woodlands with occasional views of snow-capped mountains and with a short downhill with few short ups and gradual portion, the walk leads to forested area till Lama Hotel is reached for overnight stop.

From Lama Hotel, morning walk follows downhill to Bamboo a small place with few tea houses serving as the lodge. After a nice short rest continues to walk past farm terraces of millets, corns and wheat’s (depending upon season for crops), on leaving farm area with uphill to Upper or Thulo Syabru for overnight stop, an interesting Tamang village, where houses are linked together on a row with an old monastery above the village.

Today a short scenic walk heading higher area as the walk leads into a deep forest of rhododendron, pines, and hemlocks trees with excellent views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu Mountains with Langtang Lirung, after hours of climb reaching a level path. A pleasant walk leads to Shing Gompa for an overnight stop, this village also called Chandanbari with nice lodges and a small cheese factory with an old monastery on top of the village.

From Shing Gompa, our last day walk of this short trip ends with downhill into nice cool pine and rhododendron forest, where rare Red Pandas are often seen, after a pleasant trek reaching the bottom of the hill, cross a bridge and with short climb on the main road to Dhunche town for last overnight stop around Tamang Heritage trail and village of beautiful Langtang area.

Morning drive leads downhill passing farm villages of Tamang through Ramche and Kalikathan and then on a nice road reaching at Kathmandu back into your hotel, afternoon free for individual activities and shopping.
