Short Poon Hill trek is a walking journey around the world near the tenth highest Annapurna Himalaya range. This short poon hill trek starts with a bus trip from Kathmandu to scenic Pokhara valley. After a short drive, you will reach Nayapul where you will start your actual trek. Similarly, the walk follows on the recent Trans Himalayan Caravan trade Route of Nepal and Tibet.

We will continue our trek into a pristine forest area of tall rhododendron, magnolia and pine trees. If you are trekking in the spring season then the entire mountain will look natural garden after flowers fully bloom. Likewise, continuing ahead will lead through nice old villages of Gurung and Poon / Magar ethnic tribes of Annapurna and Western Nepal. This is a popular stop before going to Annapurna base camp as well.

Finally, we will reach our highlight and destination at Ghorepani and Poon-Hill on 5th day. From here you can see the beautiful sunrise view over Himalaya includes world 3 highest peaks i.e. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu.

Next, our trek will leads back to Pokhara once visiting beautiful villages of Ghandruk / Landruk and Tolka within the shade of high Annapurna peaks.

Best time for Short Poon Hill trek

The Autumn season (September to November) is considered to be the best time as this is a peak season for trekking in Nepal. But you have to be well-prepared during this period as the trekking trails will be busy.

Similarly, March to May (Spring Season) is also considered to be the best time as the days are warm & sunny. The vegetation will be in full bloom at this time of year. It offers a beautiful view of the Rhododendron forest also. There will be no rain during this time and the skies will be clear.

June to September is a monsoon season & during this time the snow-capped mountains will look stunning. During this time there will be fewer visits so you do not have to worry about accommodation. The trails will be opened during the winter season (December to February) too. However warm clothes are a must; because temperatures will drop to freezing in the mornings and evenings.

Day 1
Received by guide on arrival & transfer to Hotel.

After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal, our team will bring you to the hotel located in the Thamel area. Thamel area is the most developed area with lots of crowds.

Day 2
Drive on Tourist bus to Pokhara 8,20 m-200 km - 06hrs.

Annapurna & Poon Hill Panorama trek starts with an interesting and exciting scenic drive to Pokhara. The journey will lead to the past farm villages and towns with amazing views of mountains.

After reaching Pokhara you will transfer to your hotel near the pristine and beautiful Phewa Lake where most of the nice hotels are located.

Day 3
Drive to Nayapul 42km & Trek to Tikhedhunga 1,440m -04hrs.

Today you will have a short drive of two hours to Nayapul to begin our trek passing lovely Bhirethati village located in Modi River.

After reaching there, we will walk through farm villages coming across trekkers, mules, and donkeys. Similarly, after reaching Tikhedhunga, we will have an overnight stay in a nice lodge after a pleasant day walk.

Day 4
Trek to Ghorepani 2,750m-06hrs.

Today we will climb on stone steps to reach Ulleri village, a moderate size Magar village with typical traditional Nepalese style slated roofs built of mud/stones.

But nowadays, they are also influenced by modern designing. After reaching here, we will walk to a pristine and cool rhododendron, pine forest area to reach Ghorepani village, located on a high ridge within beautiful rhododendron trees.

This village is populated by Poon people of Magar tribe, famous and popular spot for Poon Hill view after a short Hike.

Day 5
Hike to Poonhill & Trek to Tadapani 2,660m-06hrs.

Early before the sunrise, we will hike to the top at Poon Hill to catch the striking sunrise over a range of Himalayan peaks. It is a view with the 7th highest Dhaulagiri-10th highest Annapurna with a range of peaks including world 8th highest Manaslu with towering Machhapuchare peak “Fish Tail”.

After an enjoyable and exciting time with eye-catching views from Poon Hill, we will head back to Ghorepani and continue uphill walk for an hour. And then we will walk downhill into a gorge through the cool forest to reach at Tadapani for an overnight stop.

Day 6
Trek to Tolka 1,700m via Ghanruk/Landruk -06hrs.

With an amazing view of Annapurna with Fish Tail peak; walk leads through a lovely forest and then downhill on a winding path to Ghandruk village for lunch. You will have a view of Annapurna South, Huinchuli and towering Mt. Machhapuchare “Fish Tail”.

After a nice break at Ghandruk, we will walk downhill on stone steps reaching Phedi between high hills of Landruk and Ghandruk near raging Modi River. From here, after crossing a bridge, it’s a short uphill climb to reach another large village at Landruk.

After a short rest with astounding views, our walk will be easier to reach Tolka village for an overnight stop with grand views of Annapurna South and Huinchuli.

Day 7
Trek to Phedi via Potana & drive to Pokhara.

It is an hour or less climb into the cool forest to reach at Pitam Deurali at 2,100 meters high, offering grand views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Huinchuli, Mt. Machhapuchare and of Ghandruk village.

From Deurali, it’s downhill through a forest to Pothana village. Reaching here, we will take rest enjoying fantastic views of snowcapped peaks. At last, we will continue our last day walk into the cool forest with last downhill to Phedi a scenic and pristine spot located on large meadows with parallel views of Annapurna and Manaslu range of mountains.

Our final walk will lead downhill to the road, heading at Phedi for the drive back to picturesque Pokhara.

Day 8
Drive back to Kathmandu by Tourist bus transfer.

Today, you will head back to Kathmandu taking a tourist bus. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel at Thamel.

You will take a rest at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 9
Departure from Nepal

If you have a flight to your country then our team will take you to the airport as per time. Today we will depart from each other hoping to meet again.
