Gokyo Lake trek starts with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Normally, this scenic flight will have a great view of Himalaya. Lukla is known as a dangerous airport in the world. However, this is an entry point for the Everest region. You will see Sherpa culture and many different flora-fauna during this trek.
You should trek through different Sherpa villages, farmland, and forest area before Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is the well-known open market of the Khumbu region. There are banks, hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes, trekking gears shops, departmental stores, etc. Most importantly, Friday and Saturday become very busy at Namche Bazar due to Bazar.
Acclimatization at Namche Bazar
Most of the trekkers stay here at least two nights during Everest base camp trek and Gokyo Lake Trek. People stop here for acclimatization. Acclimatization is very necessary before climbing on high altitude area of Gokyo Lake Valley. In the meantime, you will visit Syangboche for Everest view. You can have an exotic view of the world’s highest mountain Everest, Lhotse, beautiful Ama Dablam, Kusum Himal, Kongde Himal, and many more other higher mountain.
After acclimatization at Namche Bazar, you will follow the same way to Everest base camp for a couple of hours till Lausasa. From here, you will take a left-hand side on this mountain. On the other hand side of the mountain, the trail brings you to the way of Everest base camp.
Furthermore, the top of the Gokyo Ri will display great views of Himalaya. From here, you can see four highest mountain Mt. Everest 8,848m, Lhotse 8,516m, Makalu 8,463m, and Cho Oyu 8,201m including other beautiful mountains.
Finally, our marvelous journey to Gokyo Lake Trek goes to stop at Lukla. Then, a short flight brings you to the capital city of Nepal.

On arrival in Kathmandu received by Pristine Nepal staff and guide for a short drive to your hotel at Thamel the hub of Kathmandu city where many hotels, restaurants, trekking gear shops, stores, bars, cafes, souvenir shops, art gallery, travel agencies are located. Our guide or group leader will brief with information regarding Upper Mustang trekking, hotels, culture with do’s and don’ts.
Morning transfer to domestic airport for a sweeping scenic flight of 30 minutes to Lukla. Lukla airport or Tenzing –Hillary Airport is one of the world’s most unique airstrips with ups and downs short runway, after a time for refreshment in Lukla, where your bigger baggage will be carried by our porters or loaded on Jopkyo (mix breed of normal cow and yaks). From Lukla, our first-day walk begins on a gradual path with much downhill and short climb passing traditional Sherpa farm villages with views of snowcapped peaks. After a pleasant walk reaching the overnight stop at Phakding located by the glacier-fed Dudh Kosi River.
After a pleasant overnight with the sound of the river, morning walk leads following Dudh Kosi, crossing few bridges to reach Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo village. From walk leads to the last village of Jorsalle before Namche Bazaar walking on the river bed and forested area.
After crossing the last high bridge few hours climb with marvelous views of peaks with Everest then reaching famous Namche Bazaar, here with two nights in this large prosperous trading town / village as well the main center of Khumbu with facilities of ATMs, Cybercafés, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with a busy colorful Saturday market.
Namche a perfect spot for rest and acclimatization day, this morning a leisure short hike up to park museum with full information from mountaineering, flora/fauna of the area with Sherpa culture and Buddhist religions, this scenic spot offers grand views of mountains Mt. Everest and stunning Ama-Dablam. For energetic and interested can take few hours hike uphill to Everest View Hotel for best views of Mt. Everest and other mountains.
After a rest day at Namche bazar with eye-catching views of mountain and a short hike to Syangboche, morning walk leads a short uphill and gradual walk to Lausasa. From this spot, our route diverts away from the main Namche-Everest base camp trail towards quiet areas to the uphill towards Gokyo Lake. The path climbs with a steep climb to reach a Mongla 3,973 meters with amazing views and then downhill walk to Dudh Kosi River at Phortse Thanghka for lunch.
After Phortse, continue to walk to Dole as the trail climbs steeply out of the valley through a patch of rhododendron forest which gives way to juniper and conifers trees. In the springtime, this place will be magic with wildflowers in full bloom. This path passes summer Yak pastures. The trek leads past Tongba and Gyele villages to reach at Dole with super view of Khumbila and Tawache 6,542m.
Morning walk from Dole climbs along the side of the valley, where rhododendron forest stops, giving way to smaller bushes of juniper as you gain altitude slowly. Finally, walk leads on the level path for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka and to Luza at 4,390m; and then skirting around a ridge with downhill to Machhermo village. Arriving at Machhermo for lunch and overnight stop with time in the afternoon for short walk or just relax.
From this small settlement, our walks continue to Gokyo 3rd Lake, following a scenic path to Pangka small area and then descend slightly, following one of the glacial fed rivers which flow from Ngozumba Glacier of high world 6th highest Cho-Oyu and other adjoining peaks.
The walk leads to a climb by the side of a glacier, passing first lake and the second lake, crossing the path to reach at the third lake known as Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake a summer settlement with fantastic views of Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang that reflects on emerald green waters of Gokyo Lake.
Early morning hike uphill to Gokyo Ri one of the highlights of this trip, a small peak above the lake, Gokyo Ri at 5,357m offers a panorama of Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and far as to Mt. Makalu. After a wonderful stop at Gokyo Ri, head downhill to Gokyo for a short break, afternoon heading down same way back to Dole for an overnight stop.
Morning walk along descend to Imjatse River at Fortse thanga, then a short steep uphill to Mongla Danda and with a downhill to Shanasa & Lausasa. After that a gentle walk all the way to Namche Bazaar will have again a joyful stay for an overnight.
After an exciting and fabulous trek to Gokyo Lake & Everest Panorama, last day walk of this adventure leads on the same trail back to Monjo, Phakding, Chaurikharka, and Lukla for an overnight stop. Last night dinner celebration with fellow staff-guides and members.
From Lukla an early morning flight to Kathmandu, sometimes the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather conditions, as per your flight time board in a small plane for super, scenic flight back to Kathmandu, on reaching Katmandu domestic terminal.
