Gokyo Lake Trek trail/route?
It starts with a 25-30min short scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. At the time of high traffic in Kathmandu domestic airport, you may have a flight from Ramechhap also. After reaching there, we will have our first trek to Phakding which is the entrance gate for Mt. Everest expedition & Gokyo valley.
Following the Dudh Koshi River which can’t be missed; we will head to Namche Bazar on the 3rd day. Similarly, you will have an extra day in Namche Bazar for acclimatization also. At the time of acclimatization day, you can explore banks, hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes, trekking gears shops, and departmental stores in Namche Bazar. Similarly, rather than exploring, you can also hike to Syangboche for Everest’s view.
After crossing the Namche Bazar, you will head to Dole on the 5th day and then Machhermo on the 6th day. On the 6th day, you will reach at Machhermo village very soon, that is why you will have plenty of time to rest. Therefore, it can be said as acclimatization day also.
Finally, on the 7th day, you will trek to Gokyo 3rd which is also called Gokyo lake or “Dudh Pokhari”. You will also cross the 1st and 2nd Gokyo lake before reaching Gokyo 3rd lake. And on this day, you will have enough time to rest so that you can trek to Gokyo Ri tomorrow.
Gokyo Ri is at the altitude of 5,357m which is similar to Everest Base Camp. Similarly, the oxygen level at the top of Gokyo Ri is also low and that is why you have to walk slowly. However, after reaching the top of Gokyo Ri, you will soon forget all the sufferings you have done for this trek. You will have a spectacular 360°view from the top of Gokyo Ri. Likewise, from Gokyo Ri, you will now head back to Dole which will take up to 7 hours on the same day.
On the 9th day, you will now follow the same routes to head back to Namche Bazar and Lukla on the 10th day. Once again, on the 11th day, you will head back to Kathmandu through a short scenic flight from Lukla. And finally, on the 12th day, you will head back to your home which will complete this trek.
Which is the best season for Gokyo Lake trek?
Gokyo lake and Everest Base Camp trek are similar and lie in the Everest region. That is why the season and weather usually match each other.

How hard is Gokyo Lake trekking?

What kind of Food will I get during the trek?
All the food you get during your trek will be unique, tasty & clean. Normally, you will get Dall-Bhat for meals and some custom-made breakfast in the morning. You can get other types of foods also i.e. Chinese, Indian and Continental. You can have both veg or non-veg type of foods during your trek. Also, the foods will be hygienic and clean. However, we recommend you not to eat meat after crossing Namche Bazar or during the trek. Because you will not get fresh meat in these areas and you may get food poisoning also.
What kind of Accommodation will I get during the trek?
Most of the hotels/lodges will be opened during the peak season which means there will be all different types of good lodges/hotels & tea houses. But at the time of the last peak season, most of the hotels will be closed so that you can’t choose. However, all the Hotels/lodges will be well maintained and will provide clean bed and meals.
