Why Chola pass EBC trek with Ama Dablam base camp?
First of all, Chola Pass EBC trek with Ama Dablam base camp is designed for those people who have enough time to explore the Everest region. This new trek will normally take 19/20 days to complete fully. When trekking to Everest Base Camp, everyone can see the beautiful mountains in their way where Ama Dablam is one of them. That is why this trek is designed to lead your way to the base of Mt Ama Dablam and see it even close.
Actually, Mt Ama Dablam is one of the most beautiful mountains in the world located in the Everest region. This mountain is widely famous among Everest climber and they prefer to climb Mt Ama Dablam first before Mt Everest. Ama Dablam is with an altitude of 6,838m above the sea level and its base camp is 4,570m above the sea level. Similarly, Ama Dablam base camp (ADBC) 4,570m offers a great view of the Everest Himalaya region.
This trek is similar to Chola Pass Everest base camp trek but with an extra day to reach Ama Dablam base camp. Unfortunately, very few trekkers have gone to Ama Dablam base camp because it’s new. Therefore, don’t miss the chance to trek to the most popular base camps in Nepal in one package.
Chola Pass Everest base camp journey:
After the preparation in Kathmandu, we will fly to Lukla airport with a scenic flight above the mountains. Crossing Namche Bazar, it’s a one-day hike to Pangboche village which is on the way to Dingboche village. You can go directly to Pangboche village from Namche Bazar instead of stopping at Tyangboche also. It’s only three to four hours hike from Pangboche to Ama Dablam and two to three hours to go back to Pangboche. You can say that it is an acclimatization day also where you will train your body. After that trek again continues in the main trail of EBC trek from Pangboche.
You will have a first acclimatization day at Namche Bazar with an altitude of 3,440m to adjust your body with the atmosphere. Likewise, Ama Dablam base camp day is also like acclimatization day which will take four hours to reach & 2-3 hours to return.
Normally, every trekker needs to have two acclimatization days in the Everest base camp trek at Namche Bazar and Dingboche location. You will then hike to Nagarjuna hill 5,100m from Dingboche which will take about 5 hours from and to Dingboche or you can explore Chhukung village 4,800m. After spending two nights at Dingboche 4,400m, you will then trek to Lobuche 4,910m. After that, you can complete the Everest base camp trek (5,364m) from Lobuche and stop at Gorakshep (5,180m) in one single day.
Kalapathar 5,545m is another big attraction in this trek among travelers. After reaching Everest base camp 5,364m, many people attempt Kalapathar as well. Especially, Kalapathar is the most famous for a close view of Mt. Everest’s because you can’t have an Everest view from the Everest base camp. Similarly, Kalapathar is popular for the sunset view also.
After doing Ama Dablam base camp trek, Everest base camp trek and Kalapathar trek, you will have another challenge of Chola Pass 5,420m. Chola Pass is widely known as Everest high pass among three high passes in Nepal.
You can trek to Chola Pass either from the Gokyo side or Everest base camp at another time which includes Chola pass. But in this package, you can do it from Dzongla 4,830m and trek to Gokyo Lake. Similarly, Chola pass 5,420m is considered a bit hard pass due to its high elevation and rough trail which makes it more daring and challenging.

Chola Pass EBC trek with Ama Dablam base camp has another beautiful place known as Gokyo Lake 4,790m and Gokyo Ri 5,360m. Gokyo Lake is one of the most beautiful Lake in the Everest region. It is listed in the Ramsar site as well for its wetland and wildlife. Likewise, there are five different glacier Lakes in Gokyo Valley which is the jewel of that area. And you will see at least three Lakes along the trail and you will stay two nights just beside the big Gokyo Lake 4,790m.
Gokyo Ri 5,360m offers 360° Himalaya views i.e. the highest peak Mount Everest 8,848m, the 4th highest peak Mt. Lhotse 8,516m, the 5th highest peak Mt. Makalu 8,481m, the 6th highest peak Mt. Cho Oyu 8,201m and other many 7,000s & 6,000s mountains.
After exploring those beautiful places of Ama Dablam base camp 4,570m, Everest base camp 5,364m, Kalapathar 5,545m, Chola Pass 5,420m, Gokyo Lake 4,790m, and Gokyo Ri 5,360m; you will trek down to Lukla via Namche Bazar.
