Chisapani Nagarkot Trekking is designed for those people who do not have a long holiday but want to go into the nature close to Himalaya. This is very short trekking around Kathmandu Valley. It takes only three days to do. This trekking area falls into the Shivapuri-Nagarjuna National park in the north of Kathmandu Valley situated at an altitude 2,200m above the sea level. And it offers great view of Himalaya, wildlife, flora, and fauna. The wildlife, mostly musk deer, barking deer, wild boar, monkeys, Himalayan black bear, pheasant, and many other birds are seen on the way. This is a core area of cheetah and wild pig too.

Chisapani

You can be on the top of mountain Chisapani (2,200m) within 4 to 5 hours walking from a very busy and crowded Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Chisapani offers a great view of Himalaya. Annapurna Himalaya range, Manaslu Himalaya range, and Mount Ganesh Himal range are seen in west-north Himalaya. Langtang Himal and families of Jugal Himal are seen in north and Gaurishankar ranges in the east can be seen. Chisapani offers a beautiful view of Sunrise in the morning. Normally, this place is always very cool and quiet. There are not many tourists even this is very close to Kathmandu. It can be the coolest stop on the top of a mountain with a panoramic vision. Very few local families have been welcoming to visitors for a long time. Unfortunately, all of them lost their houses/building during 2015 earthquake. They are trying to get up again.

Nagarkot

Nagarkot is another attraction on this short trekking around Kathmandu Valley. It is located over 1,900m above the sea level in the east of Kathmandu. This place is busy through the whole year except for the monsoon season. This is a popular spot for sunset view. It also offers a great view of Himalaya. Chisapani and Nagarkot both are one of the best places to see Himalaya for them who cannot go long and hard level of trekking. Most of the Nepali visitors drive here directly from Kathmandu. It is only about a two-hour drive from Kathmandu. People want to catch the view of Mount Everest before sunrise. Mount Everest is a very far way in the east. But you can easily have a great view of Annapurna Himalaya range including Annapurna I 8,091m (10th highest), Manaslu Himalaya range including Mount Manaslu 8,163m (8th highest), Ganesh Himal range, Jugal Himal range, Garishankar range and Sisa Pangba 8,014m(14th highest in the world) of Tibet.

Best time for trekking around Kathmandu Valley

The weather in Kathmandu Valley is always heartwarming & perfect. It is possible to trek throughout the year except for the monsoon season(June to September). Generally, there is heavy rainfall during this season which makes difficult for trekking.

However, you can enjoy the trekking in this region during Autumn season(September to November), Winter season(December to February), & Spring season(March to May). You can spectate the beautiful Himalayan ranges as well as pleasuring sunrise view. You will experience the different scenic beauty of these places according to the change in season.

How difficult is this trek?

Since this trek revolves around the hills of capital city Kathmandu this is an easy level trekking. The maximum altitude is 2,200m above sea level & this trek can be easily done by adults & child as well. This is a kind of family package tour.
