Basically, as mentioned, Yaks are the means of transportation for carrying loads and are very important from the point of view of agriculture too. Yaks are very strong animals and rarely carry human beings too.

Obviously, a 14days trek to Everest Base Camp contains huge bag packs or luggage. And carrying heavy luggage and walking those dangerous ways for normal people is very hard and also can cause you high altitude sickness. In these conditions, Yaks can carry all your loads and make your trekking very easy. Therefore, you can say that Yaks are also helpful and can help at a difficulty while trekking in Everest Base Camp.
